Description
What is ISO 9001?
In our current globalized economy and complex supply chains, John Ruskin’s adage, “Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort” is more relevant today than ever. Organizations cannot rely on chance to deliver quality products and services; they must establish a consistent and planned approach to managing quality. With over one million certified organizations worldwide, ISO 9001 remains the most recognized standard that provides a structured approach for quality management, helping organizations consistently meet and exceed customer requirements.
Initially published in 1987, this management system standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and improving a quality management system (QMS) in any organization.
Based on seven quality management principles, the standard aims to help organizations improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. A common misconception is that it is only for larger companies and manufacturers. However, its requirements are applicable to any organization, regardless of size or industry.
Although the standard has undergone several revisions to keep pace with business practices, the latest edition, ISO 9001:2015, remains relevant according to a survey conducted in May 2021, confirming its ongoing significance.
Why is ISO 9001 important for organizations?
Since its publication, this management system standard has been widely used. A quality management system (QMS) based on it ensures long-term success and provides assurance to customers and business associates, enhancing the organization’s reputation.
The standard allows organizations to tailor their QMS to specific needs, enabling them to identify unique issues, constraints, and opportunities. Additionally, it emphasizes a customer-first approach, focusing on meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
Its High-Level Structure (HLS) enables easier integration with other management systems like ISO 14001 and ISO/IEC 27001, improving overall organizational effectiveness.
Why should you attend one of our ISO 9001 training courses?
While ISO 9001 can yield numerous benefits, many organizations struggle to fully realize these advantages. Challenges include:
- Perceiving the QMS merely as documentation.
- Difficulty in identifying nonconformities.
- Inability to ensure continual improvement.
PECB’s training courses, whether for lead implementers or auditors, are designed to address these challenges.
Obtaining a certificate in ISO 9001:
- Distinguishes you from other quality management consultants/auditors.
- Demonstrates your awareness of this internationally recognized standard.
- Shows your ability to guide organizations through QMS implementation and management.
- Qualifies you to conduct third-party certification audits.
